We use the United States Postal Service, UPS and FedEx. During the checkout process, you will be able to select and calculate costs for delivery option before you finalize your purchase.
We work to to try to ship out packages within 48 hours of purchase, if not sooner.
Sales Tax
Sales tax on the merchandise total is charged for items shipped to the following states and US territories: AL*, AR*, AZ, CA*, CO*, CT*, DC*, FL*, GA*, HI*, IA, ID, IL*, IN*, KS*, KY*, LA*, MA, MD*, ME*, MI*, MN*, MO*, MS*, NC*, ND*, NE*, NJ*, NM*, NV*, NY*, OH*, OK, PA*, RI*, SC*, SD*, TN*, TX*, UT, VA*, VT*, WA*, WI*, WV*, WY. Sales tax is also charged on all shipping, delivery and processing charges for states with an asterisk. Except as otherwise noted, all sales are made by Pretty Things & Cool Stuff, LLC, and the local sales tax for delivery destination is also charged. All sales shipped to Texas locations are made by Pretty Things & Cool Stuff, LLC., and the sales tax is based on the location where the order was received. Sales tax for items shipped to Illinois is based on the location of final order acceptance.
About Our Books
We offer newly published as well as vintage books. Each book page features a Book Description section that tells you the following:
- Condition
- Edition and printing - when possible
- Publisher
- ISBN Number
- Number of Page
- Rating
Regarding the Condition of books that are not newly published, we use the the definitions set by the Independent Booksellers Association:
AS NEW; FINE; MINT: Without faults or defects.
NEAR FINE: a book approaching FINE (or AS NEW or MINT) but with a couple of very minor defects or faults, which must be noted.
VERY GOOD: A book showing some signs of wear. Any defects or faults must be noted.
GOOD: The average used book that is totally complete (as issued) and intact. Any defects must be noted.
FAIR: A worn book that has complete text pages (including those with maps or plates) but may lack endpapers, half-title page, etc. Any defects or faults must be noted.
POOR or READING COPY: A book that is sufficiently worn that its only merit is the complete text, which must be legible. Any missing maps or plates must be noted. May be soiled, scuffed, stained, or spotted, and may have loose joints, hinges, pages, etc.
EX-LIBRARY: Must always be designated as such no matter what the condition of the book.
BOOK CLUB: Must always be noted as such no matter what the condition of the book.
BINDING COPY: A book in which the text block, including illustrations, is complete but the binding is lacking, or in such poor condition it is beyond realistic restoration efforts.
REMAINDER MARKS, BOOKPLATES, PREVIOUS OWNER’S NAME: These are faults and must always be noted, if they apply.
We also follow these guidelines regarding editions of books:
FIRST EDITION: The common meaning of this term is the first printing of the first edition of a book. Though technically the “first edition” of a book may go through additional printings, book collectors consider only the first printing of the first
edition to be a true first edition.
SECOND (or later) EDITION: This refers to a book which has been, revised, updated, or for which the type has been reset from that of the first edition.
FIRST THUS: The first edition published in the present form. Often used to denote a book that was published previously by a different publisher.
LIMITED EDITION: The book’s publication was limited to a certain number of copies. The statement of how many copies were published often appears on the colophon page, and occasionally elsewhere. Often each copy of a limited edition will be numbered. Some limited editions are also signed by the author.

Our ratings are an aggregation or ratings/customer reviews from amazon, Good Reads, Barnes & Noble, etc. We also encourage you to post your own comments, reviews after you have purchased an item. Just scroll to the bottom of each product page.

Return Policy
We strive for your purchase to bring delight. If you're not completely satisfied with your order, we will be happy to offer you an exchange, if there is another of the same exact item available, or a full refund of your purchase price, provided that returned items are in their original condition.
You have 30 days to exchange / return an item purchased from Pretty Things & Cool Stuff.
You can cancel your order up until the moment that it’s shipped – after that, it’s a return.
For items damaged in shipping, you must notify us within 7 days (to fulfill your claim, we must file a damage claim with the carrier within the first 7 days or they will refuse it).
Items such as CDs DVDs, etc., can only be returned if they are unopened.
To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it.
CDs and DVDS must be unopened and in original packaging.
We regret that we cannot reimburse you for the cost of shipping on items that are returned for exchange or refund. And, the customer is responsible for paying for the shipping to return/exchange an item If an item is defective, please see below.
For items that are damaged, defective or not what you ordered, PLEASE READ ALL OF THE BELOW FOR SPECIFIC DETAILS.

Several types of goods are exempt from being returned. Perishable goods such as food, flowers, newspapers or magazines cannot be returned. We also do not accept products that are intimate or sanitary goods, hazardous materials, or flammable liquids or gases.
Additional non-returnable items:
- Gift cards
- Downloadable software products
- Some health and personal care items
To complete your return, we require a receipt or proof of purchase.
There are certain situations where only partial refunds are granted: (if applicable)
Books that with obvious signs of use, unless noted when originally purchased.
CD, DVD, VHS tape, software, video game, cassette tape, or vinyl record that has been opened.
Any item not in its original condition, is damaged or missing parts for reasons not due to our error.
Refunds (if applicable)
Once your return is received and inspected, we will send you an email to notify you that we have received your returned item. We will also notify you of the approval or rejection of your refund.
If you are approved, then your refund will be processed, and a credit will automatically be applied to your credit card or original method of payment, within a certain amount of days.
Late or missing refunds (if applicable)
If you haven’t received a refund yet, first check your bank account again.
Then contact your credit card company, it may take some time before your refund is officially posted.
Next contact your bank. There is often some processing time before a refund is posted.

Sale items (if applicable)
Only regular priced items may be refunded, unfortunately sale items cannot be refunded.
Gift Items
If the item was marked as a gift when purchased and shipped directly to you, you’ll receive a gift credit for the value of your return. Once the returned item is received, a gift certificate will be emailed to you.
If the item wasn’t marked as a gift when purchased, or the gift giver had the order shipped to themselves to give to you later, we will send a refund to the gift giver and he will find out about your return.

Return Policy
We at Pretty Things & Cool Stuff want you to be confident in knowing that we’ll partner with you to get you the perfect item. If your first purchase doesn’t work out like you thought it would, there are a few things you should know.
You have 30 days to exchange / return an item purchased from Pretty Things & Cool Stuff.
You can cancel your order up until the moment that it’s shipped – after that, it’s a return.
For items damaged in shipping, you must notify us within 7 days (to fulfill your claim, we must file a damage claim with the carrier within the first 7 days or they will refuse it).
Items such as CDs DVDs, etc., can only be returned if they are unopened.

We don’t have processing/restocking fees. If the reason for the return is a simple change of mind, you ordered the incorrect item or you simply prefer a different item – then you pay shipping back to us. Defective items or products that are damaged during shipping will be covered at no expense to you.
Return Instructions
All products require a Return of Merchandise Number (RMA #) before being returned.
This number can be obtained by calling us at 214-660-5467. All returns must be postmarked no later than 30 days from the original invoice date (shipping date) and include a printed and completed Product Return Form, which we will email you.
FOR DEFECTIVE OR DAMAGED ITEMS
All of the items you will find at Pretty Things & Cool Stuff are sold new, new-in-box unless stated, - such as items clearly marked “Vintage” or “Previously Owned” - ( also applies to books). As such, Pretty Things & Cool Stuff guarantees that your merchandise will arrive in brand-new (unless stated, “Vintage”, “Previously Owned”) condition. If damage should occur during shipping, or that a product should arrive with defects from the manufacturer, we will replace the items at no cost to you.
For defective items, if the item is found to be faulty, please contact us within the first 30 days at (214) 660-5467 to report the defect.
All defective items will be inspected upon arrival. If the merchandise is found to be defective as stated, then a replacement order will be placed at no cost to you - if the exact item is in stock.
We carry many items that are handcrafted and unique, and they cannot be replaced with an item that is exactly the same. If the exact item is not in stock or is not available because it is unique, you have the option of doing an exchange for an item of the same value as the defective item you are returning, or to get a refund for the defective item.
If the item is found to be without defect, it will be returned to you at your expense.
For items damaged in shipping, you must notify us within 7 days (to fulfill your claim, we must file a damage claim with the carrier within the first 7 days or they will refuse it).
If you are present at the time of delivery and the box or packaging appears damaged, please inspect the actual item for damage before accepting it (the carrier will wait for you and allow you to inspect the item itself).
If you received or refused a damaged item, please call us toll-free at (214) 660-5467, and we will handle the damage claim with the carrier (note: this claim could take up to 8 business days be completed), as well as send you a replacement item at no cost to you.
FOR UNDAMAGED AND NON-DEFECTIVE ITEMS
Pretty Things & Cool Stuff understands that even with new-in-box items may not meet expectations - even though we work hard so that they will! - for a variety of reasons. For items where your mind has changed or it doesn’t look like you thought it would – we can and will still assist you to get an item that you love.
Call or email to notify us of your desire to change your product and to receive your Return of Merchandise Number (RMA #). Once you have your RMA #, ship the product at your expense, using a traceable and insured shipping method for your protection.
You can also request a UPS Prepaid Ground Shipping Label to be sent to you through email by simply contacting us by phone or email. If you choose to receive a UPS Prepaid Ground Shipping Label from Pretty Things & Cool Stuff, the discounted price we pay for the label will be deducted from your refund once processed within our Returns Department. Please allow up to 14 days for return processing and credit issuance. Returned items must in in new, unused condition.
For replacement, there is no processing/restocking fee or penalty of any kind. Upon receipt of the returned item in new, unused condition, you will be issued a gift card with credit for the full value of your original purchase. As stated above, you will be responsible to pay for shipping to return the product. We will work with you to provide a discount on shipping for the replacement item.
There are no processing/restocking fees for returns.

4. If an item(s) was shipped to you in a brown box with the product box enclosed, please return your item(s) in the same manner. Do not return products only in the multicolored product boxes unless they were shipped to you in this manner as labels and return stickers may deface the product box or serial numbers on select items
5. Please do not use duct tape or any other “high” adhesive tapes on the returned products as this may deface the packaging upon removal Please refer to the Product Return Form that you will receive with this checklist for other key policy instructions or contact us at (214) 660-5467

4. Any security ties, tamper evident seals or manufacturer seals on product boxes and power cords must be uncut and intact
5. If an item was shipped to you in a plain brown box with the product box enclosed, please return your item(s) in the same manner. Do not return products only in the multicolored product boxes unless they were shipped to you in this manner as labels and return stickers may deface the product boxes.
6. Please do not use duct tape or any other “high” adhesive tapes on the product boxes for return as this may deface the packaging upon removal

Shipping Note: For your protection, we recommend that you use a traceable method of shipment that can provide you with delivery confirmation. We also recommend that the item is shipped insured.
Pretty Things & Cool Stuff is not responsible for lost or damaged returns.
Pretty Things & Cool Stuff, LLC, is not responsible for lost or damaged packages. Please allow up to 3 weeks for the credit to appear on your credit card statement. Original and return shipping and handling charges are not refunded.
NON-QUALIFYING RETURNS
Pretty Things & Cool Stuff may refuse a return request if we find evidence of fraud, refund abuse, or other manipulative behavior that entitles Pretty Things & Cool Stuff to a corresponding counterclaim.
Items that are returned to us without meeting the return requirements above will be rejected. We will contact you with a detailed reason for the rejection and the item will be returned to you at your expense.
Items marked, "All Sales Final on Clearance" are excluded from our normal return policy and cannot be returned or refunded unless the item is found to be defective or damaged.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Orders may be canceled up until they are in shipping and a shipping label has been printed or have shipped. Once your order is in shipping or has shipped and/or a label has been created, you will be subject to the terms of the Return Policy listed above.
