Hand-Dyed, Long Blue, Green and Black Squares Silk Scarf - Handmade by SIDR Craft

$90.00 USD

| /

I have to tell you up front that my photography does not adequately capture how beautiful this hand-dyed silk scarf really is.

Saturated with color on both sides, the silk has a very soft shimmer that is a perfect complement to the deep, rich blue, green and black colors. The silk has a lovely feel to it, and the scarf has hemmed edges.

This unique scarf —  which is handcrafted by the women artisans of SIDR Craft in India — is made with the Shibori clamp-resist dyeing technique.

A one-of-a-kind, eye-catching and beautiful work of art!

ABOUT SIDR CRAFT

Established in 1992, SIDR Craft is an artisan-based social enterprise more than 200 craftswomen in the Kutch district in Western India. It was started by brothers Abduljabbar Khatri and Abdullah Khatri.

The women of SIDR Craft hand craft exclusive silk and cotton scarves and shawls, as well as crafting customized collections for international designers. SIDR Craft's founders have twice been awarded the UNESCO Seal of Excellence for their high standards for quality. The also have been finalists for the International Folk Art Alliance Living Traditions Award.

"We've been fascinated with our traditional craft since childhood. In 1992, we started tie-dyeing professionally, making cotton dresses, dupattas and sarges for Indian markets. It's very fulfilling that our work leads to a sustainable livelihood for around 250 artisan women in rural Kutch," said Abdullah Khatri.
